Hi,
My mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last November. For a couple of months prior to that she had complained of what felt like indigestion and stomach pains, initially it was put down to acid reflux until her blood test results showed a deranged liver. By which point she was already showing signs of jaundice. My mum was on a curative path, she received 10 rounds of chemotherapy and was all set to have the Whipple in May. Unfortunately, the surgeons were unable to remove the tumour because it was on a blood vessel and instead they completed several bypasses. Initially, my mum showed signs of improvement following the procedure and plan B was radiotherapy. However, since July she has been deteriorating and this has become more rapid in recent months. My mum has been receiving end of life care for the last couple of months, radiotherapy is off the table, she is taking a high dosage of pain medication which has impacted on her cognitive ability, she is barely able to walk anymore and sleeps the majority of the day.
I think my mum will pass over the next couple of weeks, and it still feels completely surreal. She has been my rock for 38 years and the thought of being without her is devastating, but I don't want her to suffer any longer.
