My Dad was due to have the Whipple procedure but developed pancreatitis. He is now too poorly and has deteriorated so much it is no longer viable. I have asked the Macmillan nurse how long and she said short months.
Dad is still in hospital, he doesn’t eat or drink but has a feed going in through his nose. His legs feet and stomach are swollen and his skin is turning purple . He still has the infection and they can not treat it with antibiotics
He sleeps most of the time and is in almost constant pain.
Hi there, I'm so sorry. Your dad sounds as though he is very poorly, I hope that they can manage his pain relief. It is very hard watching loved ones deteriorating,, look after yourselves as well as your dad,. You will find the strength from somewhere to help you through this hugely difficult time. I found that you will never get a very precise answer when you ask how long, every patient is different. Pam XX
Hi there, I am so sorry. Your dad sounds as though he is very poorly. I think it's very difficult to get an answer about how long, I guess every patient is different. I hope that they can get his pain relief sorted. Try to remember to look after yourselves as well as your dad, it's so easy not too. You will find hidden strengths and I am thinking of you, Pam x
