Hello. My DB as resently been diagnosed & unfortunately he's been told he only has a few months. He's in his 50's & the entire family are beside themselfs.
We don't understand why the consultant would say its bleak & he only has a few months before biopsy & discussing his case! He is border line diabetic which he was told just weeks before the ct scan which diagnosed the PC. It's early days for us & he has lost weight & in pain which tends to bother him most at night. He's eating but he can't manage a full meal as it causes more pain & makes him feel sick. They have now started him on enzymes to help with absorption so hopefully that will help him to not lose any more weight. Other than all of this is relatively healthy. Is there hope?? We're certainly all trying. My hubby's uncle died very quickly from PC 5 years ago. He had it in bike duct which had spread to dudanium & never regained enough strength to start any chemo after the whippy op which is quite daunting when we thing about my DB. Anyone got any advice or suggestions.. It would be so appreciated.
Hello Rue
l am sorry to hear of this diagnosis. I have no medical training but have an understanding of pancreatic cancer. Becoming diabetic with pancreatic cancer is quite common.
My best advice is to tell you to contact the helpline on Pancreatic Cancer Uk. You’ll be able google it. They are real experts and will be able to talk you through it.
There is also advice on diet on their website. He will probably benefit from eating smaller meals more often.

Hi Rue
Thanks for the update.
Another piece of advice I would give is to take a notepad to the consultation and make notes so you can discuss together later. Also ask the consultant what he/she hopes that the chemo will achieve.
