Had a shock today… I know there’s nothing that can be done but I just wanted to voice it.
We found out my husband had recurrent pancreatic cancer last June and that it had spread to the liver on 23rd December with CA19-9 levels at 6821.
Today we went for his cycle 2 Folfox and we always ask for blood test results so we can compare….
CA19-9 levels were over 12000…….
We’re hoping that after a few more treatment cycles it will fall again and that it’s higher because there’s a bigger surface area across the two new liver tumours to produce more of the CA19-9 marker.
That’s how we’re looking at it - and if anyone has been in the same situation we would appreciate input thank you.
Hi Jaxupnorth
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and my husband is currently going through chemotherapy to shrink his tumour ahead of surgery. We have never been given details of his CA19-9 levels, but responding to you will 'bump' your post back to the top of the discussion list again where hopefully it'll be seen by someone who knows about this.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Wishing you both all the best
