Hullo. I have cancer in head of pancreas. I have lost a lot of weight but am starting to regain some.
At the moment I am taking from 6-8 Creon 25000 capsules with main meals. My stools are still(often but not always) loose and fatty. I'm going to take more Creon but wonder if this is a lot already. I'll have a chat with my dietician at the end of the month. But in the meantime I was wondering how much Creon other people take.
I'm 5 foot 6inch tall, 65 years old . I weigh 9st 6llbs now, about 3 months ago I was just under 8st.
Thank you
Keep well.
Hi Rab, I am sorry you are going through this too. I used to take 7 creon with a main meal, until I visited The Christie and discovered I had been taking them slightly incorrectly.
Obviously always ensure they stay below 25 degrees. The Christie have told me to take 2 bites then have my first creon, then space them out throughout the meal. More veggies need less than fatty foods. I'm now down to 5 creon per main meal. I still struggle with things like spare ribs my body just says no!
I also take colesevelam after trying loperamide and cholostyramine (sp?) And I'm now also diagnosed with bile acid malabsorbtion, which maybe something to look into.
Also smaller meals tend to stay in better so I have more smaller meals when I'm well enough. Don't forget your dietitian or gp can also prescribe ensure, vital or peptisip.
Good luck with your journey.
