My husband has locally advanced PC and has had chemotherapy for 4 months so far. His latest CT scan shows there is no shrinkage of the tumor but it hasnt grown either. We are not sure what to make of this,. We thought that if the tumor wasnt shrinking the chemo wasnt working. The other day we recieved a copy of a letter the Oncologist had sent to our GP saying he was pleased to tell us that the tumor had neither grown nor shrunk. Is this good news then, is this what we should expect. We are baffled,Really we should have asked the right questions but on the telephone sometimes its difficult to think of questions on the spot. Maybe naively wed hoped for more. Im trying to find out if this is the normal response to chemo at this stage.
Ok… I am going to be a bit robust. It is good news that the tumour has not grown. But You need to ask what needs to happen next.Should s different chemo combination be deployed… what is possible. Also why do they think the tumour has remained static.
Ask for a face to face meeting and always with the top oncologist, not a junior member of the team.Best wishes.
