Hello,

my parents just had the diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer that’s spread to liver & bottom part of lungs yesterday. a stupid doctor come round today and couldn’t understand why she’s not being sick (only belly & back pain) I spoke with the nurse & she apologied then confirmed stage 4 just need to wait for a biopsy to confirm best treatment. I asked life expectancy she confirmed worst case 6 months, best case 1 year average. Literally feel numb from shock can’t believe it. My partner proposed to me today infront my mum so she can be there, heartbreaking!

I just want to understand how everyone is getting on with treatment? Will she be ok to come to a wedding.. so many questions with the unknown..

  • Hi Hopeful123 welcome to the forum. What a shock for you all and also a degree of insensitivity from the nurse.  Your question I can understand but the answer I believe is more elusive as the biopsies will determine the treatment plan. At that point you may get a better idea of what the future holds and how your plans might unfold..Congratulations on getting engaged and what a star your partner is involving your Mum in that precious moment..I Hope that you manage to get some answers soon and do let us know how you get on as we will be thinking of you. • Hi Gail,

thank you for your reply, shock is not the word! I spoke with the McMillan nurse today she was amazing. I asked how mum would be with chemo as we can book the wedding for august & she stated they can work around the wedding so that’s great! Fingers crossed mum will be ok then xx
