Husband diagnosed with adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas with several metastases rather than the seemingly much more common adenocarcinoma.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who had has else had any experience of this type of cancer specifically to know how it's progress differs. We are getting no medical input which is both disappointing and stressful. Anything would be good.
This is what my mum was diagnosed with, my understanding is it's a more aggressive mix of cells. She was diagnosed with locally advanced adenosquamous carcinoma of the pancreas back in June.
After 6 cycles of Folfirinox, it was found the cancer had grown and also spread partially to the liver. So she has now been switched to the other chemo, Gemcitabine and Abraxane.
I don't know if it's the fact that it's adenosquamous that she didn't respond as well to Folfirinox or just one of those things! Her next scans will be end Dec so we can see if this chemo type is having any effect. My advice is don't shy away from the pain meds (she was reluctant to take at first) and keep up hope!
Thank you. Unfortunately our consultant is of the victorian type who doesn't believe in telling us anything, I've gathered it's a more aggressive form from online reading but he's refusing to tell us anything about it other than you have folforinox and that's it. So stressful isn't it.
