Hi All, my husband was diagnosed prior to the summer with a rare form of pancreatic cancer. His third primary cancer in 9 months. He had 80% of his pancreas and spleen removed during the summer. In the next week he will be starting chemo with folfirinox for 6 months. I know everyone reacts differently to chemotherapy and he managed well with his lung cancer chemo but I was wondering what to expect with such strong medication. Thank you

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I haven't had the type of chemo that your husband will be having but noticed that his post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Many thanks I’ve updated my profile. It looks like I may have to wait and see what happens with the chemo.

  • My husband is  having  folfirinox chemotherapy now. He is on his  7th cycle. His main symptoms seem to be just feeling utterly lethargic, thats not everyday but usually for the first 4 days following chemo. He has had diarrohea sometimes but easily controlled with Loperamide. He hasnt had any other symptoms from chemotherapy but he has had episodes of feeling tearful and emotional but its all been a traumatic time in coming to terms with the diagnosis and if Im honest we are not there yet.Its a journey we are on but thankfully he is managing the chemotherapy well.  Its so difficult in terms of chemotherapy because every individual will respond differently. My husband is older but still coping well and I hope that it is positive for your husband to. You are never alone on this journey
