My sister has advanced PC

It’s all happened so fast. She had weight loss with stomach and back pain which everyone thought was constipation and after a scan, it’s PC:  She’s been staying with me since diagnosis as she was in so much pain and she lives alone. In the week that she’s been here, she’s declined- possibly due to upset of all this but perhaps due to how fast moving it can be. I’m still trying to work with the gps to manage her pain.

She’s still so young-it’s rubbish isn’t it. I’m hoping and praying that I can be all she needs me to be going forward. I have moments where I manage to keep myself together and others when I can’t. Thinking of you all as you go through this yourself or with someone that you love.

  • Hi and a warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that your sister has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and I know what a tough time this will be for the whole family.

I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you might the family and friends group a good group to join as there you can share your feelings and get support from others who are supporting a loved one with cancer.

If you'd like to do this click on the link I've created and then choose 'click to join' or 'join' (depending on the device you're using) on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could pop something about your sister's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
