Good Morning,
It’s 5.24, wide awake!
I went to the doctors on the 8th June as my tummy was bloated and quite hard. I carry my weight in that area so didn’t think much about it initially. However after being examined the doctor did some blood tests and my CA125 was 85. Since then I’ve been to A&E and managed to get a CT scan which has shown a 20.2cm mass in my abdomen and a 9mm nodule on my lung. This week had a second CT on my Thorax and abdominal/pelvic ultrasound. The mass in my abdomen is of considerable size, not sure how long I’ve been carrying it around with me but I’m aware it’s there now, starting to get a bit of back and hip pain. If anyone can help with what happens now, it would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I’m in limbo with this alien growing inside me.
Thank you
Hello. Last August, I had persistent back pain- which came on after a run, then I felt a sort of balloon swelling in my tummy which would slightly change position. Doctors (mis)diagnosed a prolapse but after a private consultation with a gynaecologist it turns out I had a 14cm cyst on my left ovary.
I moved bavk onto the NHS as it was potentially cancer and was put under the care of a gynaeoncologist. I had a transvaginal scan, a CT scan, an MRI znd blood tests pretty quickly. I was also told it might have been there a long time which was terrifying.
Results came back quickly and my gynaecologist said the cyst looked suspicious- ie cancerous.
I had surgery on 5 November and pretty much everything was taken out. It was called a bilateral-salpingo oopherectomy. It was cancer and aggressive so was followed up by 6 sesdions of adjuvant chemo.
I have just had a scan and more bloods which have come back clear.
My world and that of my family was turned upside down but I'm hopefully on the other side now. Take 1 day at a time, be kind to yoursrlf and try not to let your thoughts snd fears run away with you. I got in touch with the charity Ovaconec and have taken advantage of their zoom sessions- meditation,, yoga, hypnosis, crafts, exercise etc. Ive found that a lifeline during the tough bits.
You're not alone. Reach out to others and best of luck xx
Hi, I’m so sorry you find yourself here. The waiting and wondering is such an emotional overwhelming time. It’s likely that your results will be discussed at a multi disciplinary team meeting of medical professionals to decide on a treatment plan to offer you. At this stage you don’t know for sure what it is, I know it’s hard but try to stay in the present. If you’re searching on the internet try to stick to sites that specialise like Ovacome or target ovarian cancer. Take care.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
