I've been persuaded by my daughter to look for online support. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year (misdiagnosed originally by my GP as having a prolapse). I had surgery on 5 November and had pretty much everything inside me removed! That was followed by infections, 2 sets of fluids in my pelvic area requiring drains, chronic diarrhoea, constant nausea, dehydration and finally DVT with a pulmonary embolism.  I really felt so low, crying all the time and feeling desperate that nothing would ever get better, and was very close to accepting anti depressants. I had 3 sets of hospital stays. Finally came home just before xmas and off antibiotics on 2 Jan. I have chemo starting next Wednesday but I'm in a much better place mentally now. I really didnt think I could  get through the last 3 months, but I hung on - lots of crying but now feel much stronger and prepared to face chemo. Light has returned to my life

  • Hi, so sorry for what you’re going through. It’s so tough emotionally and physically. I was diagnosed Jan 24 stage 3c high grade serous OC . Got through the big operation and experienced PE too, it’s horrible you have my sympathy. It amazes me how much our bodies want to get better, I had 6 cycles of chemotherapy then moved onto maintenance treatment. Hang on in there, 2 years on there is no evidence of disease, I’m living a good life making memories with family and friends and lots of holidays too. I found good information and support from specialist ovarian cancer charities Ovacome and target ovarian cancer. Be kind to yourself . X
