Hello,
My name is Sharon I am 56 and was diagnosed last month with Stage 3b/4a high grade serous carcinoma ovarian cancer. I had my first chemotherapy on the 29th December experiencing a bad side effect during it which left me screaming in pain like someone was pulling my insides from back and front splitting me in two. Luckily once restarted I didn't experience any other problems. However, day 1 serious diarrhoea and feeling nauseas, day 2 felt like a better day, day 3 felt like I'd been hit by a truck, day 4 very tired and day 5 is now diarrhoea again. Anyone else had this experience? the chemotherapy was Carboplatin and Paclitaxel but my next cycle they are adding Bevacizumab.
Hi there. I have had a lot of chemo over the years and the one thing I have learned from my own experience, from watching other patients on the chemo unit, and from listening to others experiences is that reactions to chemo are highly individual. Looking back, I found the initial course of carbo taxol one of the toughest but I suspect it's also to do with it being our first encounter with chemo, such a huge shock to the body. The side effects you describe since going home do not sound unusual but do keep notes and report them to your team when you head in for cycle 2.
