Hi, not sure what to write as I can’t really describe how I’m feeling right now. I am 43 and have a 10 year old daughter.
recent diagnosis of 1c2 after emergency surgery to remove ruptured hemoragic cyst on right ovary (histology showed this as granulosa tumour) awaiting surgery then more than likely chemo.
just wanting to speak to anyone who’s been in a similar situation as I feel very anxious right now. I have a wonderful support network in my family and friends which I’m so grateful for.

  • Hi Kadeya - can imagine you are feeling all sorts of emotions right now. I had a cyst rupture in surgery 1C1 - had 6 rounds of chemo afterwards as a ‘ just in case’ anything got out. Everyone responds differently to chemo but for me I would definitely say the surgery was the hardest part. Chemo left me feeling more tired than usual ( this will be tough with a 10 year old I know) but otherwise largely ok.

Despite having great support from family and friends, I still found having someone to talk to whilst going through it that understood to be really helpful - I was lucky enough to meet a woman on my first round of chemo who I connected with and we have offered mutual support ( she had breast cancer) and I have just joined a local gynaecological cancer support group which has been great!

wishing you well during your chemo ( and obviously afterwards!)

  • Hi Kadeya,

I am in such a similar position as you. Unfortunately. It sucks doesn’t it.

how are you now? Have you had chemo?

I am 42 with a 13 year old and 10 year old. I was diagnosed 2 days ago with this stage 1c1. They are not doing chemo. They are observing me every 6 months with bloods and a CT scan to check for reoccurrence.

the consultant told me that it wouldn’t affect my lifespan in any way - how does he know this? And if it does come back, they will catch it early and go in and remove. I don’t know but it’s just so hard. I am thinking of my wee children and husband and want to be around for them. I know success rates are high but I was still in the minority to get this thing in the first place!

Hope you are doing well anyway.

    all the very best.

  • Hi, hope you’re doing okay.
I had my completion surgery (full hysterectomy) 4 weeks ago and am recovering well. They didn’t take my omentum as they had previously said they would as they didn’t see any signs that it needed to come out. They instead took biopsies.
I had a call on Wednesday saying that the results showed no signs of spread at all and that it’s likely just going to be lifelong monitoring from now on. My original diagnosis of 1c2 still stands.

  • That is a really good sign Kadeya. So pleased for you!!! Keep well x
