I’m just in pieces waiting for further biopsies.
I’m now being told they’ve seen a mass on my ovary. This is from ct scans that were done for the ct guided biopsies on my peritoneal nodules.
How can my ca-125 blood test be normal?
This is the hope I’m clinging to but I’m frightened of giving myself false hope.
Has anyone else had a normal blood test reading and yet still diagnosed with cancer.
Hi Gilly5 and welcome to the group, although I see you’re already a member of the community in other groups.
My name is Sarah, and I am one of the Community Champions in the community. I noticed that your post had not yet received a reply so my response will bump your post to the top of the discussions so others may see it.
I have been through a different gynaecological cancer myself, but as none of us are medically trained and are only able to talk about our own experiences we can’t unfortunately give an opinion on blood test results and what they may mean for you.
Do you know when you will be having your next biopsies? Biopsies would give the definitive result on whether something is cancer, even though blood tests may be used to aid a possible diagnosis.
It’s very difficult to be waiting for further testing and results-we all find this very stressful and anxiety inducing. But I think you’ll just have to sit tight and wait for your results. I hope you’ll keep us posted, and that the other ladies in the group will be able to help support you once you find out more.

Hi I've had my huge ovarian tumour removed in October when my Tumour markers were fairly normal, only my CEA 4.5
Had recent tumour markers done 2 weeks ago prior to my starting chemo on 21/01, and all normal ranges nothing elevated.
Then my baseline CT scan and subsequent MRI shows I have metastases deep within my liver.
So yes, tumour markers are not always representative of what's going on in our bodies.
And we can have cancer when markers are normal
Oh, the waiting is just so horrible, isn’t it? Cheekkat is correct in that tumour markers are not always something definitive. It wasn’t for my own cancer, but it’s all very stressful at this point. Keep us posted if you can.
Sarah xx
