Hi all,
Just wanted to say hi and a bit about myself.
I had a 20+cm tumour removed in mid December. The surgeons saved one ovary and my uterus but took one ovary, both fallopian tubes and my appendix.
I've had an initial diagnosis of either Borderline or stage 1 but my consultant has asked the multi disciplinary team for their assessment. Is asking the MDT for their opinion standard procedure?
I'm hoping I've been surgically cured and won't need any further treatment but every ache or niggle is worrying me.
How long did you all have to wait after surgery for confirmation of your next steps?
Hi Curiouscat
I just wanted to say welcome to the community and the group.
That’s a big tumour to have removed, and I hope you are recovering well and feeling better now it’s gone. It’s very natural to worry about every little niggle after surgery, but you’ve just had a big operation and your body needs time to heal and repair inside, so you need to let that happen.
I had a different cancer and surgery, but did have both ovaries, tubes and my womb removed as part of it. I just wanted to say that in my experience of dealing with this for over 5 years, it is standard practice for results to go to the MDT to agree on any next steps. My results at different stages of the process have been to several along the way!
The tumour etc will be analysed in the lab so the team, which is made up of oncologist, surgeon, radiologist etc will want to look at all your results together-pathology, any scans etc. From this they will come to an agreement about any further treatment which may be needed. It may be that the surgery has been enough in itself to mean you don’t need anything more, and that is always the hope, but you know that everything is reviewed by the various professionals to come to that decision.
I hope some of the other ladies will come along and share their experience and that you’ll find the group helpful and supportive. Meanwhile, take it easy and I hope you continue to recover well.

Thank you Sarah for your response. It's good to know the referral to the MDT is just part of the process and to know who's involved. I'm hoping for news soon.
I hope you are doing ok.
Hi Curiouscat
Yes, it’s perfectly standard, and hopefully you’ll hear soon once the team has met. They consider a number of patients at each of these meetings, so they’ll have a list of cases to look at. In my hospital the meetings were held weekly.
I’m doing fine thanks, and I’ll hope you’ll let us know how you get on. All the best!
