Hi ladies just to let you know how I got on yesterday with my first session. Boy what a long day it was, almost 9 hrs because the pharmacy where 3hrs late in sending up my chemotherapy. Anyway all in all im absolutely fine! Had no reactions or sickness. Was given the necessary drugs to combat this. Didn't sleep last night even though me and the OH where shattered. Woke this morning with a rather red face but was told this is normal reaction. Got some good advice from the nurses also got the voucher for my wig and there is a company right near to where I live. I was speaking with a lady who went there for hers and she was very happy with it. I'm going to keep a log on how my symptoms are daily. I only have the steroids for 3 days so im imaging that the fatigue will kick in then. Hope your all ok with your treatment. Stay in touch. Love Abbs xx
Hi Abbs123
i developed a hernia a few months after the debunking surgery. It started off as a small lump at the start of my incision near the navel. This was in September 21 after surgery 2 Feb 21. It has grown larger and is now uncomfortable ( I look like I am half pregnant on my left side). I have had appointments with consultants about this and was eventually placed on a list for major surgery again to mesh the hernia back into place. However, any operation has now been delayed as the cancer cells returned last June 22 and I have had a second corse of chemo. This time no paclitaxol just carboplatin with a different drug ( Lipsomal doxorubicin). I responded well and the cells disappeared so am currently NED. Now on a tablet drug Niraparib. 1st week into this. No bad effects except the fatigue due to reduction in Neutraphils. I was starting to feel so well after the 2nd dose of chemo. Still don’t know if I have made the correct choice in taking the tablet drug as it will only give me 3/4 months extra before the cancer returns somewhere in my abdomen. You take care and don’t overdo it to avoid a hernia. All the meds you are given help enormously with any bad side effects of Chemo. Keep up the good work and positivity.

Hi Abbs
pleased you have got your wig. It certainly helps with your confidence if you go out anywhere.
Did you get a bamboo liner? It certainly helped during the hot summer of 2021 as it keeps your head cooler under the wig.
all the best with your continuing treatment. It is easier after the first time as you know what to expect and go prepared. You will feel better week by week until you next dose of chemo when your bloods reduce again
lots of love

Oh Dahlia so sorry to hear about your hernia op has been put on hold. You have to take every chance you can to beat this. Please stay positive in the choice that you have made and I hope this works out right for you. Thank you once again for your reply. You are in my thoughts. Abbs xx
Hi Dahlia. I don't have a wig just yet but I do have the voucher. Will probably go next week. Yes I have heard about the bamboo liners, especially with summer coming it's a good idea. Abbs xx
Hi Abbs
thanks for your support. The Cancer Journey is a tough one but main thing is to keep positive and keep going in for he hope that treatment for our kind of cancer improves with time. I know cancer treatment generally has come on in leaps and bounds.
are you still managing to ride your horse? I hope so. Don’t let go of the things you love doing.
if I can help in any way on your journey let me know as I am further down the road than you are.
unfortunately I don’t have the BRCA Gene and my clear cell cancer is aggressive but I’ll keep on fighting! Just had a lovely walk in woodland beside a stream. The wild garlic, bluebells and celandines are in bud and just about to spring into flower. Nature is a Wonderful thing
take care love Dahlia2270

Hi ladies
I spoke with surgical consultant this evening, we have decided that surgery at the moment has to many complications. As the main part of surgery was a stoma reversal, then remove tumors and try to repair the hernias, the biggest hernia is a parastomal hernia, on the right side another on the left not as big and a new one growing above the naval, the reversal can cause blockages post surgery the mesh can cause problems if I need more surgery if I don't have reversal, so I'm going with just chemo for now. But surgery can be discussed at a later date. So never say never.
I'm wondering what chemo mix I will have this time, and will I be losing my hair again,
Does anyone know the answer
I never bothered with a wig or head covering last time cos I don't like things on my head. My sister gets married in Sept so if I don't have any hair maybe I will get a wig for it lol.
Keep going ladies xx

Hernias generally come after surgery, maybe not everyone gets them though, I just have a very strange shaped tummy, my surgery incision was breast bone to public bone a stoma and 3 hernias but will just have to suffer it for now, I really need to lose some weight but can't get my head round it just now x
