Hi Gill
understandably you and she will be concerned. I had the BRCA test after cancer had been detected twice. The first time I asked for the test I was told it was not relevant. I think that the situation depends on the GP referring her to a good oncologist. Perhaps it may be worth paying privately for a test, if that is an option. My aunt died with ovarian cancer. It had been mis diagnosed and the cancer had gone too far for any treatment before diagnosed correctly. This was about 25 years ago and research has moved on a lot.
the main thing is early detection of the symptoms high many women are not aware of.
increase in passing urine
bloating feeling after a meal
back pain
tiredness
always have a regular smear test.
hope this helps
