Hello everyone,
I am new here and unsure on whether I should even be here but I guess I am just looking for some advice, information, reassurance etc etc.
I have had stomach issues for quite a while and was being tested for Crohns, Colitis etc. As a part of this I had a MRI which showed everything was OK (phew) however showed that I likely had PCOS, this wasn't a shock to me as I was diagnosed about 12 years ago with PCOS! Dr sent me for a routine ultrasound anyway as I haven't had one for a while, when having the internal ultrasound the Sonographer noticed something that she believed to be a solid mass in my right ovary (left ovary appears completely normal).
I had a follow up with my GP yesterday and she has sent me for a CA125 blood test, which I had yesterday, referred me to a Gynaecologist in the next two weeks and for another Ultrasound.
I am now a little worried, and basically was wondering if this is routine, whether they are just being safe and covering all bases or whether it is likely to be something more serious.
Looking at the symptoms I actually have a lot of them, although they are pretty common to a range of things!!
Thanks in advance :)
Hi . I’d like to offer you a warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community. I’m sorry to read your post but you’ve come to the right place to talk to other people who are in the same situation and help you get through this. Although it's worrying for you, it's reassuring they're covering all bases.
My cancer is different, but a possible cancer diagnosis of any kind makes us ask lots of questions, causes confusion, stress and probably emotions we’ve never experienced before. The Macmillan Community is organised into dedicated support hubs. I see you’ve joined our Ovarian cancer group, this will be a good place to connect with others who'll be able to hopefully answer your questions.
It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourself and your journey to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. You can amend or update it at any time. You could use this, your first post, as it's very informative.
The Macmillan Support Services also offer lots of information, support, financial guidance or just someone to listen. It’s free to call 0808 808 0000. Most services are available 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Have a look by Clicking here to see what is available and we also have our Ask an Expert section, but do allow two to three working days for replies from our expert team.
Sending you welcoming hugs B xx
