Hi I have been feeling bloated and full on and off for about 4 weeks, went to the doctor and she gave me peppermint oil tablets to take, it eased a bit and now I have cramps like period pain, and lower back ache. I did have some back pain before but put it down to a pulled muscle. I’m not in pain and can still move and do normal everyday activities. I am having bloods taken today the doctor said it will check for coeliac disease, ibs, ovarian cancer, should get results tomorrow or Thursday. I am 37, married, no kids, except the furry kind! I am generally fit and healthy, vegan, weightlifter,. I’ve lost a little weight was 10st 8. Now 10st 3, we originally put it down to my weightlifting. And my very active outdoor job. I do 16,000 steps/7 miles of walking a day on average,
I know it’s normal to worry but I can’t help thinking the worst. Anyone else been in a similar situation or can offer advice?? Thanks
Hi Rosiegp,
Welcome to the group, and hope you find support here from others who’ve been on similar journeys.
I too felt bloated on and off for about a month ( back in October / November 2020 ), but was otherwise fit and active. My gp referred me to hospital, where blood tests showed a very high CA125 blood marker - likely to mean Ovarian Cancer.
The early days, prior to my surgery over Christmas, were the worst as there’s still so much uncertainty pre-op even with the high CA125, and of course it’s only human nature to fear the worst. As it turned out, I did have OC (stage 2b), but I found that after surgery, focussing on my recovery and having a plan for follow up chemo etc, made me feel more able to think positively, and deal with the steps that were needed one at a time.
Based on my experience I’d say try to stay as positive as you can, and just keep doing what you’re doing - being fit and active, eating healthily and getting your sleep and relaxation really helps when it comes to getting through whatever post-op recovery and treatments are needed - and keeping my fingers crossed for you that in your case it’ll turn out not to be OC at all .
If you feel like posting again, it would be great to hear how you get on,
love Bx
Hi thanks for replying!
All my bloods came back normal, I rang the surgery today and it said no action needed. Doctor wasn’t free for a chat so I’m calling back tomorrow.
That’s excellent news, really pleased for you
Best wishes

That’s brilliant news
Hope your doctor is able to suggest a solution for your bloating, and wishing you all the best,
Bx
Thanks. I’m struggling to get an appointment none until next week as it’s not urgent and my bloods were fine
