Can someone please recommend any strategies for dealing with chemo induced or possibly Pegfilgrastim induced pain? What is in your view the best painkiller for that?

Thank you

  • Hi

I’m sorry you haven’t had an answer to your question yet. My reply here will nudge your post back to the top of the discussions again.

I had a different gynaecological cancer, and unfortunately don’t have relevant experience to share. However, I’m aware that the pain you are experiencing could be a known side effect from your chemo or the pegfilgrastim.

I wondered if you had contacted anyone in your team to ask for advice? If not, perhaps you could call your CNS to let them know how you are and they could speak to your consultant. I personally just dealt with my consultant about my pain levels, and she was able to prescribe me something which helped. We all experience pain differently and at different levels, so it’s best to speak with those treating you who know your situation.

I hope you can be prescribed something which will help to make it easier to go through your treatment.

  • Thank you, I found that the pain eased off and just a bit of paracetamol some gentle walks and plenty of water seems to have helped it I think.

  • That’s good news-I’m glad to hear that things are feeling better for you now.

  • Hi

I don't have the same cancer and I am unsure of the chemo protocols used for ovarian cancer. It might be worth adding some detail on your treatment into your biography (click on your user name to do this). I was treated with EC and then paclitaxel for breast cancer. I had 5 days of self injection of filgrastim on each EC cycle and found it caused a lot of bone pain. Paracetamol didn’t touch it but I found a combination of ibuprofen and the antihistamine cetrizine helped.

  • Hi

You've replied to me but I’m not sure why, so maybe it was meant for the original poster?

My profile is already complete, with no further details required, and I’ve explained to the member that my cancer was different and I don’t have relevant experience to share. I was merely answering an unanswered post to bump the post and try to help direct the member to her team as the most appropriate source of advice.
