Hi
I had an episode of cellulites on my foot neck which was cured with antibiotics tablets
Now I have a skin rash on my tummy which started 20 days ago with a few red spots which have extended a huge patch now....I am seen a doctor later today ...Last week we tried with hydrocortisone cream but it got worse so I stopped....It is likely I need another antibiotic.....I m interested in hearing from anyone who had skin issues treated during the chemio.....It has been likely caused by a tiny skin crack that got infected....Thank you
Hi Azzurra
How did you get on seeing the doctor about your rash?
I don't have any experience to share with you but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
I hope the rash goes soon
Sorry for late reply! I had my 6th chemio yesterday (9 hours in the unit as there was a delay in the delivery of my drugs). with an addition of Bevacizumab to the Carboplating and Taxel to treat post surgery remaining cancer of 1 cm (might have shrunk in the last 2 chemio I had after CTscan in September. The rash is gone almost all away. An experienced nurse saw me and said she has seen that many times in other women too....I asked her to email my oncologist to let him know her opinion.it was a surgical glue reaction that can show up even after 8 weeks from surgery, and that it takes some time to completely go. The riskh has nothing to do with scar which has healed beautifully. The cleansed further the skin with a special glue remover tissue and I am putting coconut oil raw and organic on the patch. It works well, also coconut oil is antibacterial and antiviruses. There is a little research about it.
Going back to the rash, a swab was taken to the laboratory to see if there is an infection and what antibiotic would be the best...But I m sure it will come back negative as the red patch is gone now! Hurrah, no antibiotic. My skin is showing to be my weak point. I got cellulites in July on my foot neck and had to take antibiotic for a week. The GP said she did not want to risk that the bacteria would travel to other places. And that in a healthy person she would have not given any antibiotics but because I m having chemio I need protection. Fair enough. But I m glad I don't need antibiotic for the rash!
