Hey everyone, I’m new to this chat and have been reading all your posts and comments . It’s extremely humbling to be with such incredibly strong women and hope I can be half as strong as you all are xxx
My story so far :
Im 46 years old , have three beautiful daughters who range from 24 to 6 .
I have suffered with depression all my life due to a traumatic first half of my life and have being working so hard all my life to create a loving , peaceful home for my family , which I think I have accomplished. It’s been the best part of my life and my depression completely levelled off and was having zero symptoms , only issue was my weight and bmi which was very high . BMI- 48%
So ,
I decided after last Christmas I would go for weight loss surgery in 2023 and I booked my flights and surgery for the 25th March this year . I was travelling on my own but the programs they have in place in Ismir turkey are incredibly well organised and I was never on my own once off the plane .
While getting my pre-op tests , they were during an ultrasound and what I thought was a full bladder was a 15cm cyst on my right ovary.
They refused to do my weight loss surgery and I went home the following day .
I’m rumbling so sorry !!
long story short got appointment with rapid access clinic and then gynaecologist and then surgeon ,
He told me last Monday that I need a full Hysterectomy both ovaries, uterus , appendix and osemtum ( that’s not spell right ) . Skin and fat over bowel .
Shock horror as I was told in previous appointments that left ovary was perfect !!
I said can we leave left ovary and he seemed annoyed and said ‘Well you can but do you want to be back here again , opening your up again where it can be all taking in one go ‘
I respect his experience and knowledge so agreed to go full hysterectomy.
Bloods are all Normal .
I have learnt that you go straight into menopause after surgery and I’m terrified.
Will I tell him leave the left ovary or will I just do what he says .
Anyone have a similar experience?
thank you all in advance xxx
Hi Wena46 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
It's always difficult to know if you've made the right choice when there is one. However, whatever you decide to do is the right choice for you at that moment.
I don't have the experience you're looking for but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be easier to see.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
