I had my first chemo, carboplatin and taxol, two days ago. I was fine the day after, but now have abdominal pain, and aching legs. Is this a normal side effect? Feel I can cope if it’s a recognised side effect

  • Morning Sheila P,. I had my second infusion of chemo last week but my first infusion was the same as you describe, first few days I felt fine then around 3rd day I started to get pains in my legs in fact could not sleep as I didn't know where to put them ( in the bed, then out the bed) however, it did pass and now on second lot no leg problems at all just tired and nauseous which for me are not to dibilatating in fact I'm catching up with tv series I've missed and catching some lovely films. But if you are at all worried ring hospital they will advise you and maybe want to see you.... I think my first chemo I was scared of the unknown and a little worried about everything as it is a big thing to come to terms with but we do, we find a strength to cope and get on, it will be less daunting the next time... In the mean time take it easy and get advice from hospital..I'm sending some angels your way to help and give well vibes!! Hope you are better soon ....much love and well wishes in there way to you..

  • Thank you! You’re an angel!

  • We are all in this together, and I think we are all fabulous... You take care Heart

  • I am just about to start chemo with the same drugs and my consultant has warned me about the aches and pains which start a few days after infusion and that they should go after a few days. Hope you feel better soon. X

  • Hi the aches and pains are due to the injections you have to promote the bone marrow is what I was told. It doesn't take away the fact it hurts. Good luck.
