Hi my name is Sheenagh. I have stage 3 ovarian cancer. I have had one lot of chemotherapy and my markers have halved already. I’m so confused and upset at the moment I’m taking it in. My markers being halved after one lot of chemotherapy is a good thing

  • Hi Sheenagh, welcome to our little group, I too was stage 3 , Had 8 chemos and surgery last year , am on Olaparib maintenance since xmas, have my 3 month scan today , so on a bit of a panic, my marker dropped quickly as well , so that’s a good sign the chemo is doing its stuff.  If you need any questions or advice , we are all here to help you ,

take care and keep us posted

    love and virtual hugs

Hello, I’m stage 4, had 8 chemos, 1 large operation this March 21, now on Avastin for maintenance. My figure are gradually going down too. Don’t worry too much on the figures believe in you hyena oncology team they know what’s best for you and you know your body and how it is feeling. For me I have franc and clear meetings with my team to discuss how everything is going and the next steps, rarely do we talk figures. Take care x

Hi: just found thisk site. Can’t wait to meet you women. 2 1/2 years ago I was diagnosed with stage lll. Had total hysterectomy, with 2 oncological/gynocological surgeons. Then 6 rounds of chemo. I was allergic to Taxol

and it was stopped immediately,so just carboplatin. The genetic test showed no brca gene. After showing up Ned, my doctor recommended Lynparza. So expensive, but my 2 private health insurances paid! During the 2 years I’ve been taking it, when the every 2 week blood test showed a raised level of creatinine, I was told to stop for 2 weeks, then went on it again. After a year I went down from 300mg twice a day to 150 twice a day.Now after 2 years, I will stop next week. That’s the limit.

i was lucky re side effects. Except for the knees! A month after starting, I was at the orthopedist with a cane. When I reread the side effects, this time I spotted joint/muscle pain. I had some fatigue, sometimes mild diarrhea. Nothing that required treatment, except the knees. Let’s see what happens a month after stopping. I am still Ned. My every 3 month marker shows it's Ok. My yearly scans are done without the dye material. Would like to hear more from others with knee or other  muscle pain.

  • Hello Mgogo!

your journey sounds exactly like mine, I was even allergic to taxol- they changed me to docetacel  instead, I started lymparza full dose 600mg in December last year for ned maintenance, and totally agree about the knees - dreadful pain and aches, I work in a department store in the UK so on my feet 2 days a week - fit to drop after 6 hours- my manager lets me cover fitting room duties for a few hours so I can sit down, so just about manage !  - but my bloods are ok , and CA125 is 9 , 3 monthly scans as well so I suppose its a small price to pay !
    welcome to our group

    Take care

    love
