Hi all
I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer i have been on chemo for about 6 weeks i found out on Friday that i am stage 3 and grade 3 how do i get my head round this
Hi, I wanted to reply to give you a little hope if I can. I was diagnosed with Stage 3c like you in November 2012, age 40. I had 3 lots of chemo, then surgery, then 3 more lots of chemo and I’ve been cancer free since finishing treatment in April 2013. I know how lucky I am as I know recurrence is high in late stage ovarian cancer, but treatments are improving all the time. I took part in a clinical trial here in Leeds, where some of the chemo was given directly into my abdomen for the last 3 chemos. I also have the BRCA1 faulty gene, which apparently helps the response to chemo. I then had a preventative bilateral mastectomy in Oct 2014 as my chances of breast cancer were also very high. I just wanted to wish you all the best, try to stay positive and keep crossing off every hurdle. Xx
Have you tried the Ask the Nurse section on this site? You can ask them any questions you have about your stage and grade, and your treatment. I'm sure they will help. It is a very scary and confusing time. x
Hi Nattyp123, I am waiting for scans/diagnosis but from my symptoms and incredibly high CA125 marker it would be surprising if i didn't have advanced ovarian cancer. It's interesting to hear about the positive response to Chemo with BRCA1, which I have too.. is this a specific kind of chemo and this has been proven?
