My omentum has been removed in parts during two separate surgeries over the last 6 months. Throughout this time and during chemotherapy I have been experiencing pain. Usually in the centre of my torso but sometimes at the side. Sneezing and coughing are extremely painful. I am wondering if the pain is due to the omentum not being there and not doing it's job. Does anyone know please? Is the pain something I will need to learn to live with or will it ease off? Would appreciate any help or support. Xxx

  • Hi Ginger Bookworm

A very warm welcome to you.  I am sorry you are having such a difficult and painful time at the moment.  Although my situtation was a little different to yours, I had my omentum removed as part of a full hysterectomy which included removing a mass almost 2 years ago in 2018 - you can read my profile by clicking on my name, I would like to offer you some support.

The best advice I can give is for you to contact your medical team and explain to them exactly what you have here in your post, as these really are the people who are best placed to advise on your situation.  I do remember the pain i experienced post surgery which took time to ease and I too was frightened to cough and sneeze at the time - it takes time to get to know our bodies and have confidence in them again.

Please do talk to your medical team as they can advise and reassure you.  Do come back and let us know how you get on and please ask any questions, and post if you need more support as there are lots of very helpful ladies in this group.

Take care and sending you a very supportive (((HUG)))

Many thanks for your supportive words. I am going in tomorrow for my 6th and last chemo session. I will talk to staff in hospital and probably will get in touch with my a CNS. X

  • You are more than welcome. I hope all goes well for your last chemo session tomorrow. I know chemo isn't easy to go through and completing it is a real achievement in itself.  There is aways support here whenever you need it, always here.
