Hi, I was diagnosed in November 2019. I have just completed chemo (carbo/taxol) and am now on Avastin. I am due for debulking surgery on Monday. It was postponed from March because of low bloods then Covid 19. I was tested for BRCA (my mother had breast cancer) but was negative. Although my husband carries the BRACA 1 gene. None of my children have been tested yet. I have two sons and a daughter and grand daughter. If they do have the gene, the are options, which will get better as time goes on. I know it must be devastating for you and your daughters, after losing their father, but a lot of us ladies are doing really well. Please ask any questions. Love Jan. X.
Hi Jan,
Just a quick message to wish you luck for your operation tomorrow, hope all goes well , keep us posted , I will be thinking of you. I have my 5th chemo on Thursday, so hopefully not too long before my operation as well .
Take care and stay safe
love
Janet
Dear Jan,
Just to wish you all the best for today, sorry it’s a bit late! Sending lots of love and hugs.
Best wishes, Nell xxx
Hi ladies, I'm back home! Operation went to plan on Monday and discharged on Thursday p.m. Feeling fine, albeit moving is a bit slow. Only take pain killers now and then. Thank you for all you support and best wishes. It was better than I imagined and to all the other ladies waiting to have it done, its OK, the treatment and care I received was fantastic. A big thank you to the staff at Poole General Hospital. Love to you all, Jan. XXX.
Hi Jan,
So glad you’re home and the op went well. It sounds as you are doing really well with reducing the painkillers and moving about - keep up the good work! I am two weeks on now, healing quickly and doing more things each day but still benefiting from a little lie down after lunch each day to recharge!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Nell xxx
Hi Jan,
So nice to hear from you. I was having chemo 5 yesterday and was wondering how you were doing.
Glad you are home, it seems to be 4 days duration in the hospital, so must make sure I pack for that because I assume there are no visitors allowed! take it easy , enjoy the rest. Both you and Nell have made me feel better about my operation, which I have been more worried about than the chemo.
Nell, glad you are recovering well, I enjoy a nap in the afternoon as well! Take care all, we seem to be having quite a few new ladies joining our group so welcome to all.
Love
Janet
Hi Janet, The operation was much easier than what I was imagining. The mind really does play nasty tricks on us! Yes, I also worried about it much much more than the chemo. The worse bit of it all, was the Covid 19 test, as I gag very easy and the laxitive taken the day before! Yes, unfortunately no visitors are allowed, but I didn't find it a problem as everyone was using their phones. I promise you, you will be alright. Any questions, please ask, love Jan. x.
