Hello, I've just joined this forum as I've had my CA125 result today and it is raised.  I know that doesn't definitely mean I've got ovarian cancer but I have some of the symptoms and have had breast cancer, ten years ago.  I've got an appointment for an ultrasound next Wednesday.  When I had breast cancer I used an online forum and found it really helpful to hear from people in the same sort of situation, so I thought I'd give this a go.  I am in one piece but feeling quite scared so would be happy to hear from anybody.  Thanks.

  • Hi Tulip,

Welcome to our group.   My CA125 was 98 when I was diagnosed  with stage 3 Ovarian cancer back in February this year, which from listening to the others was quite a bit lower than some of the ladies  -  my CA125 is now 14 and I am on chemo number 5 next week.  I should have had surgery after 3, but as with the other ladies, Covid19 stopped that, so I will have surgery after my 6th chemo.  Your scan next week should   help your GP decide if you need further tests.  I too had Breast cancer 7 years ago, I was tested for BRCA 1 and 2 when I was diagnosed with ovarian, and am negative, just REALLY unlucky my oncologist said.  There are quite a few of us on here, and we all support each other, comparing issues and just sometimes having a moan!  - which really helps.  I hope yours is only a scare, but if it is ovarian, you will find so much support in this group, there is a lot of treatment out there, but try not to Dr Google, far too inaccurate!

Take care and let us know how you get on.

    Love

    Hi Janet,

Thank you for your reply to my post.  I hope chemo number 5 will go OK for you.  I have my ultrasound scan on Wednesday so not long to wait now.  I had constipation followed by diarrhoea a few weeks ago - neither was too bad but both are quite unusual for me - I just thought my bowels had gone out of kilter for some reason, but then after that I started to get some weird lower abdominal pains and feeling a bit bloated after meals so thought I'd better get myself to the doctor.  Mostly I agree with you about Dr Google but I did google my symptoms and I think the fact that ovarian cancer came up as a possibility got me to the doctor quicker.  I had breast cancer 10 years ago, in fact it was this time of year when I found the lump.  I haven't been tested for BRCA but don't have any immediate family who've had breast or ovarian cancer, just a couple of cousins who had breasts cancer, but then I have a lot of cousins so that probably isn't too surprising!  Your comment that there is a lot of treatment is reassuring.  I met with a friend of mine who happens to be a GP on Friday and she said the same thing.  Anyway, I'll let you know what happens when I've had my ultrasound.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

    Take care,

    Amanda

Had my ultrasound scan and got results from GP yesterday. The scan showed a 'calcified area and some fluid, so GP is referring me for an urgent gynaecology appointment and will probably need a CT scan. It's all quite scary. I have a bit of pain but the worst thing is the feeling that my stomach is stretched, I almost can't stand up straight. I guess that is the fluid? Although I haven't got any bigger!

My best wishes to all of you going through this.

  • Hi Amanda

glad you got your scan results quickly and getting referred, I had MRI first then CT, then biopsy, not sure about your stretching feeling, my tummy felt more heavy, I didn’t have fluid though, just the two 5cm masses on my ovaries and thickening of womb which biopsy said was where it had spread.  Hopefully they will see you quickly and you can get some answers.

    Take care

    love
