Hi, when I go, I'm usually there for about six hours.  So I take my kindle and suduku with me.  Although to be honest, there is so much going on, that I'm either chatting or being noisy!  They will give you anti-sickness tablets and steroids to take home with you.  (And they do work).  I don't normally feel anything until day 4-7, when I get shooting pains and aches (first and second chemo only) and then I feel OK.  Not knowing what to expect is worse!  Take care, Jan.

  • Hi Aqubee,

I’ve had two chemo sessions so far. I take a container of water that can be refilled and some snacks, a good book, some puzzle books, lipsalve, handcream and a cosy little blanket. I always wear something comfy as you are sitting down for a long time. Could take knitting or crochet if you do that kind of thing. My session takes 6-7 hours so I need plenty to occupy my mind!

Hope it goes well. Best wishes, Nell x

Hi aqubee, I have completed 6 cycles of chemotherapy. The days were at least 5 hours so......comfy clothes, magazines, some snacks, my phone to read on the internet or listen to an eBook, a travel pillow, a shawl (easier than a cardi to put on/take off if you are chilly/hot as you will have a cannula in your hand), a few TV programs downloaded on my iPad (with headphones) and hubby to chat to. Don’t worry, tell them it’s your first time and the chemo nurses will explain what is happening - or just ask them your questions.
