Hi
I started second line chemo with carboplatin and caelyx in July. After the first cycle I felt fine. About a week after the second cycle I got a horrendously painful sore throat and very very dry mouth. Initially I was treated with antibiotics however this was changed to fluyconazole even though my throat did not look coated or red. It got a little better for a few days but now it is becoming more sore again. I've had it for getting on for 3 weeks now.
Is this a reaction to the chemo I didnt have this first time round but caelyx is new for me If so is there anything I can do
Celia
Hi Celia
My cancer wasn't treated with chemotherapy so I don't have any experience to share with you but I noticed that your post had gone unanswered. By replying to you it will bump your post back to the top of the page where it may be seen by someone with the right experience.
I've had a look on this site and found this information about carboplatin and Caelyx and both mention a sore throat as a side effect. Unfortunately I couldn't see in the information any advice on how to deal with this but make sure that your team know that you are still suffering.
