SSo Hi, 4 years no periods, finally succumbed to kilovance hrt in feb 19 then in may the bleeding started literally through sheets, towels tampons for 5 weeks, had a phone consult with gp who sent me for urgent swabs(all ok and advised me to come off hrt I did not) with meds’ to stop bleeding, thought I might need follow up with  my own gp several weeks later so went on Thursday, she was mad that no follow up was suggested and now says I have to be treated as suspected ovarian cancer, so had bloods etc and immediate letter to gynaecologist with appt in 11th July to hopefully rule out, I’ve previously had cn111 plus papillary cancer to thyroid, I’m bloated, bowel habits have changed, very tired but this happens with having no thyroid and meds constantly changing, needing to wee more often, I’m a little freaked, any insight from anyone? X

  • Hi harrypoo,

im here with a dodgy womb but from being around the site for nearly two years it's pretty impossible to know what's happening from symptoms alone, some people have no / slight symptoms and have cancer, some people have lots of symptoms and don't have cancer and vice versa.

Usually they do an ultrasound first and then you see a gynaecologist, have they said that you will have a scan? The ultrasound can highlight any potential problems, e.g. mine found cysts on my ovaries (non cancerous) and a thick womb lining (which can potentially be cancerous or non cancerous, mine was cancerous). After that I saw the gynaecologist for my next steps (for me that was a smear test and a biopsy from my womb).

when they test the sample in the lab is when you get a definite diagnosis, so it can take a while if they find something for further investigation.

I hope that your appointment goes well, please let us know how you get on

    lots of love

    xxx

Had scan and biopsy ovaries seemed ok but lining of womb was 8mm so had biopsy, results came back today with pre cancerous cells, this is second time, got a appt with gynaecologist in sept, so obviously they not worried which is good, just awaiting to see what they suggest x

  • Do you have a mirena coil fitted already? They might suggest that if you don't already have one so you might want to read up about it before your appointment and prepare any questions, e.g. Will it affect your HRT, the Nhs have some information about it here https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception/iud-coil/

It basically helps you shed your womb lining and keeps your womb clear, it lasts around 10 years, I had one fitted before my hysterectomy, I was apprehensive about it but I forgot it was even there after a couple of weeks. They can sometimes treat it with tablets too but explained to me that the coil works at the source whereas tablets have to make their way through the bloodstream before they can take action.
