Hi  am new to this , I was advised to join from a Macmillan muse ,, am not in a very good place , I have been given tamoxifen , and I think they are playing with my emotions can any one help thanks

  • Hi cupatea,

im here with a dodgy womb so don't share your experience but my surgical menopause has left me really emotional so can sympathise with the up and down feelings, I really don't feel like myself. My CNS was able to refer me to my local cancer charity for counselling, that really helped. I also got some counselling through a service at work. There are some good mindfulness and relaxation videos in you tube which can help you relax, I find them good for when I can't get out of my own head, distraction and planning nice days out helps me too. Do you have any hobbies you could use to distract you? The women in the womb group like knitting, arts and crafts, etc.

    Lots of love

  • Hi cupatea,

Give your gp a ring tomorrow and let them know how you are feeling, or if you need to chat tonight you can call the samaritans on 116 123. Your gp will hopefully have something that will help you cope. I remember a week or so after i got my mirena coil fitted while I waited on my surgery, I was inconsolable, I couldn't stop crying, I'm sure it was hormonal, I had to work from home for a week, I was typing away in floods of tears. Our hormones have a lot to answer for. My surgery was in 2017, so I'm back on my feet and nearly back to normal apart from the menopause.

I hope that you feel better soon

My mum found that the steroids make her feel worse. Very low mood etc.  She definitely takes an emotional dive about 4 days after chemo. Cutting back steroids helped a little but still happens. Hope you feel brighter soon.
