i have what is described on the ultrasound report as a vascular structure 3cm on my right ovary. CA125 is at 92. Urgent referral put through...what is likely to happen next? I want to mentally prepare myself.

thank you

  • Hi, I have no idea what that is, but I'd imagine the next step would be a CT scan of the area, before deciding what surgery is needed, Hopefully someone else can be of help x

  • Hi science teach,

My problem was my womb but after my ultrasound I saw a consultant gynaecologist who explained my next steps to me, took my medical history and all of my symptoms and had a good look over my cervix and beyond.

My next step was a procedure to take a sample from my womb, if they want to take a sample from your ovary they could do an image guided biopsy or a laparoscopy https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/laparoscopy/.  As hooked says they might do a CT scan too, that will give them a more detailed picture of your ovary and the structure on it.

waiting on a diagnosis is the pits, each step seems to take a few weeks, to get appointments, then to get results back, try and carry on with life as normal as best you can and plan some fun activities and days out to distract you whilst you wait, passing the time through the unknown is one of the worst parts to all of this.

lots of love and please let us know how you get on

    xxx
