Hi I have secondary liver bowel and abdominal cancer from a primary ovarian cancer 6 years ago, I also developed a small bowel obstruction around August last year, I have been having my second round of chemo since April after having to stop for a while over my obstruction, I'm on cycle 7of 12 weekly sessions and was doing great everything is moving in the right direction my CA125 is going down well, but 2 weeks ago my bowel obstruction started again so the paramedics came gave me the usual meds of pain relief and anti-sickness because once I start throwing up nothing else works only through I.v, but things settled down pretty quickly so we assumed it was a partial blockage, I've not been the same since I'm in constant tummy pain with horrendous gas the growling in my bowel sounds like jurassic Park sometimes, I can't get the balance between constipation and diarrhea right , I'm on a no fiber diet which is always hard work anyway, my question is has anyone else got or had the same thing happening or have any idea what I should take at the time it is most painful, I already take slow release morphine twice daily only low dose, laxido and lactulose, I did mention it to my oncologist but she just went on about my diet, its really getting to me now and I just don't know what to do any advice would be appreciated.....

  • Hi

I haven't had the experience you describe so can't give you any advice but I did notice that your post had gone unanswered. By responding it will 'bump' it back to the top of the page where hopefully someone who has had this experience will see it and reply.

I noticed that a few months ago you posted this question in ask a dietitian and wondered if you'd seen Nicola's response? If not clicking on the link I've created will take you there.

Another thought is for you to join the secondary liver and also the bowel cancer group and post your question there as well. There may well be people in those groups who may be able to help. Clicking on the links I've created will take you to those groups.

I do hope that you are able to resolve this soon as I can only begin to understand how distressing this must be for you.
