Well where do I start - recently diagnosed with a 5cm mass in my fallopian tube which they have graded at 1a - very nervous - feeling up and down - anybody in the same situation x

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with a mass in your fallopian tube. I don't have any experience with this but I noticed that your post had gone unanswered.

Waiting for treatment to begin is a very anxious time so it's understandable that you're feeling nervous. Most people say that once they know what their treatment plan involves they feel less apprehensive. Hopefully you've been assigned a cancer nurse specialist (CNS) as they are a great source of information and you can ring them to ask any questions that you have.

You can also post questions in ask a nurse here and one of the specialist cancer nurses will aim to respond within 2 working days.

If you feel that talking to someone would help then I can recommend calling the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 0000 and having a chat to one of the advisors. It's free to call and is available daily from  8am to 8pm.

Hi. I’ve just been diagnosed with stage 2a Fallopian tube cancer. Had full hysterectomy six weeks ago and just about to start chemotherapy.

So last week my consultant advised me that when they did my MRI they noticed an anomaly on my liver they said I needed a scan also on my spleen and liver which had to be done before tomorrow.

So today I went for my scan and they said it actually wasn't booked in until next Thursday and that the radiologist wouldn't look at anything after Wednesdays???

So basically it would mean that they wouldn't discuss my case for another two weeks.

Luckily they squeezed me in today & I have been placed on the MDT tomorrow - that's if the radiologist will look at it as an urgent otherwise it will be next Friday Disappointed

Feel so fed up - and like I am chasing them.

Hi Leah, hope you are doing ok, it’s a horrible time waiting to hear what your treatment path is, it gets a bit easier when you get a plan in place.  It sounds like they caught you early, so that’s excellent news, OC has a good outlook if it’s caught early enough so hopefully that will be the case for you!

Dont be afraid to chase your medics (nicely!) I had to put aside my natural reticence at times & be pushy, it’s a bit rubbish but it’s definitely better than sitting at home fretting.

Wishing you all the very best with your treatment xxx

Thank you so much - I was a bit pushy yesterday in the nicest possible way - time is of the essence and when were in this situation we all want to just get on with it xx

Hi there, so what’s happening with you?  I’ve for stage 2 carcinosarcoma of Fallopian tube with ovary involvement. Full hysterectomy done and I’m now running around like a spring lamb!  No problems whatsoever from surgery. Chemo starts next week, six sessions, three weeks apart and this is the bit I am absolutely dreading. How are you coping with things and how far along the treatment pathway are you?

    Paula x

They are having a MDT today which I am supposed to be on - fingers crossed.

And then hopefully I will know what treatment I am going to get - they saw something on my liver which the Macmillan nurse thought was possibly non related but they have to check and I guess that's when I will know what my course of therapy will be.

Good to hear that your surgery went well - I think I am dreading both going on the change and the chemo - but I believe everyone is different and Christies is a centre of excellence xx
