Is a CA125 of 32 ok? I am female age 45 years and I have ongoing symptoms and am currently undergoing various investigations. I just feel like something isn't right. Blood was found in my fallopian tube. Bloods were satisfactory. I'm not freaking out and am actually quite calm and positive. I'm more annoyed that I'm having to wait quite a bit for appointments. i have an appointment with my gynaecologist on Oct 14th to discuss surgery but they haven't explained what surgery exactly. Thanks
Hi Tinkerbell1980
I am sorry that you are still undergoing testing for your symptoms and need to wait until next month to see the consultant. it may be worth asking whether they have a cancellation list in case you may be able to get in a bit quicker.
CA125 is a blood marker that is routinely checked where there are gynaecological symptoms that need investigating. By itself it does not diagnose or exclude cancer. It can go up and down for other reasons eg; infections.
A level under 35 is considered normal.
I think listening to your body is the correct thing to do and we can sometimes know ourselves if something feels off.
I hope that your appointment next month goes well and brings some answers for you.
Jane
Thanks for the reply. Having some pain again today, I've told the GP and my consultant but they don't seem bothered. :0(
The difference between having caring doctors/consultants who go above and beyond to help you can make a huge difference to your overall mental and physical health. I hound my Doctors or consultants if needed, but honestly I'm under great care at the moment and get checked on and updated frequently.
The only gripe I have with my Doctors surgery is the fact that I only got telephone appointments and was diagnosed with various kidney or UTIs for over a few months. My cancer was only spotted after I took myself to the A&E after one of the phone doctors said to me, "We can't help you any more because the antibiotics are not working for you, so I suggest you go to the hospital". I have since heard of many women who have been diagnosed with UTI's, when in fact it's actually been some kind of cancer. And that's quite scary but unfortunately some of the symptoms match up. I hope that you feel better soon. Maybe journal all of the issues that you're having. Note the time and days, side effects etc. And when you finally get to see any of your doctors or consultants, you can show them your health journal and then maybe they'll be more proactive review in the future x
