My mother is a ovarian cancer patient-3C (primary peritoneal ). She has already completed 12 chemotherapy cycles. Since 8th cycle doctor reccommend to take bevacizumab as maintenance therapy. Now she has take 5 cycles of bevacizumab (krabeva -600mg). Now she is suffering from gastro-oesophageal reflux, high pressure and protein urea. Doctor ask to continue bevacizumab another 12 cycles.
Any one in group with same experience ?
Bevacizumab can be cure cancer ?
Is your mum getting medication for the high BP, and close monitoring for the urine protein? As far as I know, bevacizumab on its own doesn't cure cancer as such but in combination with chemo and as maintenance can definitely help to control it and delay progression. So worth taking if it can be tolerated and scans show stable disease, tumour shrinkage, or you mum is NED and continues to be.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
