Hello. Does anyone have info about or experience of using PleurX to drain ascites at home rather than have to stay in hospital? I’m asking for my friend who has advanced ovarian cancer and is currently in hospital having fluids drained.
Many thanks.
Hi
I don’t have relevant experience myself, but noticed your post hadn’t had any replies so far. It may be that others in the group don’t have experience of this, but you could post your question to one of the nurses here
The nurses may be able to give you advice on how this could be arranged. The Ovacome ovarian cancer charity may also be a place to get advice and ask questions if you take a look there.
I hope you can get some answers for your friend.

Hi Sarah
Thank You so much for your reply. I did “ask a nurse” and got a very helpful reply this morning. I hadn’t heard about the support group however so have forwarded your info to my friend, I don’t know if
shes been in touch with them but
i am a great advocate of the support group.
thanks again for taking the time to get in touch.
I’m glad to hear you had a reply from one of the nurses, and I think in addition your friend could definitely gain from engaging with the Ovacome charity.
How kind of you to be looking for answers for your friend-I hope she can get some help.
Sarah xx
