Hi, been to see specialist, need a biopsy to confirm what type of cancer, then 3 cycles of chemotherapy, maybe followed by surgery maybe not, lost appetite again, I know I need to take a day at a time and focus on I’m doing ok at the moment, I m struggling with all the uncertainty and feeling so drained.

  • Hi

The uncertainty is certainly very draining for you-the waiting for things to happen can seem endless. It’s absolutely the best idea to take one day at a time right now and try not to let your mind race ahead. I did my best to try and distract myself- easy tv, keeping busy when I could. If I didn’t really feel hungry, I just ate whatever I fancied-small portions and snacks were easier for me to cope with, so long as I had something.

During my cancer and recurrence I’ve had many long waits for things to happen, and I know I just wanted to get on and know everything. But it’s important to have this biopsy done to confirm the type of cancer to ensure the best treatment plan is put in place. You are definitely not alone in struggling right now-uncertainty is very upsetting, and unsettling, but hopefully you’ll feel better once you know more. Do you know when you’re likely to hav3 your biopsy? I hope it’s not too long away.

Hang in there, and post in the group whenever you’d like to-it’s much better not feeling you are on your own with this.

  • Thank you for your support and encouragement. Hopefully  biopsy next week or week after. Some days I’m ok then mind races and low again, will try not to think too far ahead, I read your profile, you are very brave, thank you for replying.

  • The whole process is very much up and down, so I get that completely. I honestly think that things start to feel better when you know what you’re dealing with and have a definite plan of action. The waiting is horrible though. Thank you-I just had to deal with what I was faced with, and I was very lucky to be able to have my surgery.
