Hi
I had a full hysterectomy 4 weeks ago and my CNS just rang with histology results. Apparently I have a rare cancer - Yolk sac tumour stage 1b. Lymph nodes are clear. Will have to have Chemo. Anyone else experiencing this.
Hello Jkg
I hope that you are recovering well from your hysterectomy. I am sorry to hear that your histology results showed a rare germ cell ovarian cancer but it is promising that your lymph nodes are clear.
I am hoping by responding to your post that it will be bumped back to the top and someone who has the same kind of cancer will see it and be able to offer some support. If you want to read back to previous posts in the forum with the same kind of cancer then you can do a search- using the search bar and put in germ cell cancer. I have just done this and there are some ladies who have posted about this.
In the meantime I have found some information that you may want to have a look at- at some point. I would recommend you stay away from Google as a lot of the information out there is out of date and not accurate.

I wish you well with your treatment and if there is anything else you need, please do not hesitate to ask.

Hi Jkg,
I had germ cell cancer 2yrs ago, I had immature teratoma and embryonal carcinoma in my left ovary. I was diagnosed as stage 1a and due to this I didn’t have to have chemo. I have had CT and MRI every 6months over the past 2 years and all has been clear since my op in November 2021.
I found it hard having a rare type of cancer as not many people could relate, but I found this forum to be really helpful. I’m also on ovarian cancer support group on Facebook which is great.
I hope everything goes well for you
Hi Jkg
i also had an immature germ cell teratoma stage 1 grade2a 20cm mass. I had my hysterectomy 14.5 years again. I have been under servailence ever since with regular blood tests X-rays CT scans with the occasional MRI and ultra sound thrown in for good measure. For a low grade cancer they don’t always do chemo. I suppose it depends on your doctor and where you are. Good luck and I hope everything works out well for you
Hi
The tumour in my womb was removed but I developed another tumor in my groin. I had 4 cycles of Chemo but unfortunately it hasn't been enough to kill the cancer, it is now slowly developing again and I have been told it is incurable. Just going to have treatment to slow things down and help with pain. Not at that stage yet so just enjoying a kind of normality for as long as I can.
