My mum's oncologist is saying that bevacizumab is not offered as a course of treatment for low grade serous ovarian cancer. Does anyone know if this is true because other women have said that it is. Not sure who to believe now.
Hello ddhd96
Am sorry to see that Mum has ovarian cancer.
With different treatments that are offered there are often guidelines that depend on the persons diagnosis, medical history etc and these can sometimes vary by area. It is tough when you know of something that may help and then are told that it is not offered. There may well be reasons for this but it's something that you need answers too. Has Mum got a CNS that you could talk to who would be able to provide some further clarification?
I will post a link with some NHS info that may help. If you click the link below targeted therapies there is some information on bevacizumab and when it is offered.

I will also pop a link here for Ovacome which is a UK based ovarian cancer charity which may also be of some support.

Finally some information from Macmillan on the drug so you have some background info if you decide to speak to her team about the decision.

Hope this helps a bit
