I had my operation in June. Then was told they had removed all visible signs of cancer. I had been diagnosed with stage 2b. I have undergone one chemotherapy session paclitaxol and carboplatin. On my second chemo, I had a severe reaction so have now been told it is unsafe to continue with the paclitaxol. I will now just have the carboplatin. I am concerned that it will be not enough to ensure there are no micro cancer cells left in my body. Has anyone else had the same. Thank you
Hi , I too was allergic to that drug and they gave me docetaxel and carboplatin instead - i was 3c at diagnosis. Good luck with your treatments xx

Hi I am due to start chemo in the next few weeks, really scared . What were both of your reactions, if you don’t mind me asking . Feeling pretty rubbish at the moment with servere bloating and just not feeling hungry . Xx
Hi I was ok for the first cycle of paclitaxol , on the 2nd cycle almost immediately I went tomato red in the face, my chest was tight, struggled to breath, stabbing pain in my lower back- I thought I was having a heart attack - the nurses ran to my aid, stopping the drip and immediately injected a steroid into my IV line and gave me oxygen- which stopped the reaction immediately- then for my 3rd cycle they changed me to docetaxel and carbo and thankfully was ok for the rest of the course. Good luck With your treatments
xx

I’m starting chemo on Wednesday, I’m very anxious about how it is going to affect me.
good luck with your treatment x
That sounded very scary for you. Hope it is going well for you now. I have only been offered carboplatin. But I guess I have to trust the professions.
Hi
I have stage 3 ovarian cancer and after my op to remove my ovaries, full hysterectomy and lots of scraping of other parts of my abdomen to remove cancerous cells I have had 5 months of chemo. I chose to only have carboplatin as the side effects of paclitaxel were more severe and a CT scan and CA125 levels suggested the surgeon had removed all the visible cancer. My side effects haven’t been at all bad (just fatigue really) and my oncologist was confident that carboplatin would be enough. She said the difference of having both drugs over just one was not proven.
Hope this reassures you and you have a good outcome.
Have you the option to delay your chemo until you feel ready? I needed longer to recover from my operation than the standard 6 weeks before starting chemo and that meant I felt better when it did commence 12 weeks after my operation.
It’s not too bad. Discuss the drugs options with your oncologist and the possible side effects and decide what you feel you can cope with.
Hope it goes ok for you.
