Back in December 2021 I was asked by my GP to have a blood test because my cervical smear had shown up some abnormal cells, just b4 Christmas I was given the diagnosis that I had G3 Stage 3 serous ovarian cancer, as you can imagine Christmas was cancelled but once the ball started rolling the NHS were brilliant.
On 10/01/22 I had a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy at Watford General under the care of a wonderful Gynaecological Oncologist.
I didn’t start chemo until March as I had to heal internally first from the operation. I was on 3 infusions every 3 weeks (that’s what I called them), Carboplatin, Paclitaxel & Bevacizumab. At the start of treatment my CA125 levels were 247, and last week they were down to 23. The side effects from the Paclitaxel were not as bad as I thought they would be, I lost all my hair just after my fourth treatment, I only suffered nausea (it was like being pregnant again ) so I consider myself very lucky. Whilst on treatment I had cravings as well, don’t know if anyone else had them.
I’ve now finished full treatment and I’m on maintenance treatment of Bev & oral cancer tablets.
What I want to get across is how wonderful the NHS have been both at the hospital I had my hysterectomy in and Mount Vernon, Northwood where I am having my cancer treatment, they have held me up on bad days and been there for me on good days to. Unfortunately as the gynaecologist oncologist couldn’t take out all of one of my Fallopian tube, part of it was attached to a major organ I will never be free of the disease but there are ways of controlling it.
God bless you all going through this awful disease you are in my thoughts and prayers.

It sounds like you've been through a lot but I'm glad to read how pleased you've been with your treatment.
