Keen to understand how long you waited for a hysterectomy after the initial surgical consultation?

    • Hi Granny59 I was diagnosed with Ovarian stage 3 cancer in December 2021, had a full hysterectomy on 05/01/22, so it was pretty quick.  I finished full chemo in June and I’m now on main chemo and oral cancer tablets.  I wish you well on your journey.
  • Hi

I thought I'd provide an update in case it helps anyone she ended up having a full hysterectomy, her omentum and appendix removed keyhole surgery. We are now waiting on biopsy results x

  • Hi Anna

Hope your mum is ok, how is she feeling after the op x

  • She is recovering well. She was in hospital for 2 nights, had a robotic surgery and we just have to wait for the results now. I feel like when you know it's easier! How are you?

  • Hi

Yes the waiting is the worst. I had a benign fibroid  in the end even though the CA125 was 240, think maybe they rely on that blood test too much and it doesn’t seem to be always accurate but perhapFull moon with facethere’s nothing else for them to judge by, they thought I had cancer  because of that and it wasn’t so I hope that gives people hope that the CA 125 reading  may not be that important in every case.Full moon with facelad your mum is doing ok , I ll keep my fingers crossed that she has a good result too. Take care of yourselvesFull moon with face

  • Thanks for the update glad to hear yours isn't cancer. We haven't been told her ca125 results despite asking.... They've said things like oh we don't have them here, as we've been to a few hospitals or its fine we just don't have the reading. Take care x

  • Hi,

I thought I'd provide an update which may also help others...

She went in yesterday and was told her ovarian complex cyst was borderline, but there were signs of invasive cells likely to have been cancerous if not caught early. They also found a lump in her appendix... She was told she will not need any further treatment aside from check ups every 3onths. Looking at responses on here it seems as though others have got much more detailed explanations so unsure if there was more information we could have pushed for. I myself was not there, but my sister went with my mum.

    Anna x

  • Oh! that’s great news, sounds like it could have been precancerous cells but they caught it in time before it had the chance to develop, and they must have got rid if she doesn’t need chemo or anything, I bet your mum is relieved and they ll keep an eye on her every 3 months so it’s all good,Hooray!!Take care

  • We are relieved! Of course we will need to see how the next few checkups go. Hope you're well xx
