Been to see the gynaecologist this morning and it's not the best of news I've got a large tumour in my ovaries which has spread to my liver and has filled my abdomen with fluid which is also in my lPensivegs, I have to have a biopsy to find out what type of cancer it is then a multidisipline team of doctors will decide whether I have chemotherapy first then an operation or the other way around, I'm so afraid Pensive

  • Hi ShazzE,

So sorry to hear your news, but glad you found this site and hope you will find comfort and support in hearing from others also going through a similar journey.

I know it’s really hard, particularly at these early stages when all you have are lots of unanswered questions rather than a path to follow - but that will come, and your medical team will be there to provide it for you. Whether you start with chemo to shrink the tumour, or start with the op and follow up with chemo won’t matter to you then  - just so long as you have a plan and can work through it one step at a time.

Even harder is to try to stay positive, to eat well and keep active during this period - but my experience has been that all these things really help to get through the treatments and recovery - so it’s good to find some favourite activities and foods to treat yourself with if you can.

I wish you all the best for your upcoming appointments, and would love to hear how you get on whenever you’re ready to post again.

    Love Bxx

  • Thank you so much for your reply, I think I'm still in a bit shock trying to get my head around it

    Love ShazzE x

  • Completely understandable ShazzE - so please try not to be hard on yourself. Almost everyone on this site will be able to relate to that feeling when this thing bulldozes into your life without warning, and takes over your every thought and emotion. It’s very scary for sure - but I hope you will start to find it a bit easier, as I did, when you have a plan for next steps.

All the best, and look after yourself Kissing heart

    love

That sounds similar to my situation when I was diagnosed. The huge amount of fluid which had suddenly built up in my abdomen was what made me go to the GP in the first place - being told it looked like cancer (confirmed in hospital 5 days later), seeing the oncologist and being told Stage IV, then having the fluid build up around my lungs too.
My situation meant that they couldn’t operate immediately because of the fluid, but three rounds of chemo sorted that, then surgery, then three more rounds of chemo.
It’s definitely scary news, and perhaps all the more so for coming right out of the blue. But there’s lots of help and support available, and you’ve come to a good place here to find it. x
