Hi there,
I was diagnosed with high grade non-hodgkins lymphoma last year and went through R-Chop and methotrexate chemotherapy and radiotherapy. (and lots of hospital stays) I've been in remission over a year but since the start of this year have had trouble sleeping. Does anyone else have bad dreams? Or have any advice? I've had counselling and gotten into a better sleep routine but haven't had a dreamless nights sleep since treatment ended. My counsultant is a bit lost as to why!
For anyone whose recently lost their hair thanks to treatment- mine has regrown curly since! Really tight springly curls as well, before I had perfectly straight hair.
Thanks so much! :)
Hi Kathy448 and a warm welcome to this corner of the Community although I am always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.
I was diagnosed way back in 1999 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of NHL eventually reaching Stage 4a so I do appreciate the challenges of this journey rather well (See my story)
Going through treatments like R-CHOP (I had its big stronger brother R-EPOCH) can definitely play with our sleeping routine, add hospital stays and this makes it more pronounced.
Over the past 9 years I am sitting at 130 nights in hospital so totally get the dreams…. I don’t have bad dreams but until I started my main treatments in late 2013 I never did dream.
My main sleeping challenge is caused by the damage to my hearing due to the treatments I have had so I now live with a continues pulsing and Tinnitus 24/7….. but over the years I have been able to get over this…… it’s not been a quick fix but it has improved.
As for hair, I lost my hair three times so my once thick silver hair is now significantly thin……. but all n all I am living the dream as I am now a good 5 years past the pint I was told I would not be here if my treatment had not worked.
Always around to chat.
