Hi, can any body help.
I'm just about to receive my 5th chemo session but all through I've suffered all through from at first discomfort under my lower ribs each side of my chest but now almost constant pain. I've spoken to my head nurse frequently about this and as nothing showed up on my mid term pet-scan scan in this area, they just say I don't know what it could be, which does not help. Because of this I cannot sit or lie down comfortably so end up standing and walking around the house. I'm passing urine 5 times a night which is so annoying as I find it difficult to get back sleep again due to the discomfort im having. Has anyone else had this problem?.
Not getting any help of answer from my head nurse what it could be and shielding alone at home for so long with just contact with my family through the rear window, my mental health is not in a good place at the moment.
Regards
Stevezodiac
Morning Steve zodiac , when the pain is worse and your going to the toilet is that the day or days just after you've had a session of chemo ? As some side affects from some can be pain but mostly up peeing to get the chemo out of your body , that was the worst for me as mine was intensive chemo and I was up peeing every 20 mins but I was getting fluid drip to flush the chemo through quicker & I was in hospital not at home , but you should try asking your named nurse or as to see the Dr and ask for things to be explained , I was in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Glasgow and the staff were fab there if you wanted to know something if they didn't they'd find out
Hi Stevezodiac and welcome to this corner of the Community although always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike Thehighlander and I help out around our various Lymphoma groups.
I was diagnosed in 1999 with a rare, incurable but treatable type of NHL Stage 4a so I do know this journey rather well.
Sorry to hear about the challenges you have been having during your treatment. You know I have heard the same “I don't know what it could be”…… but at the same time my Specialist Cancer Nurse says that unexplained pains like these can be normal. The chemo (what chemo are you getting?) attacks the cancer cells but the fall out is it also attacks other areas of the body especially around where your cancer is presenting.
I did find that this improved once I was out of treatment but it did take time for all the pain to go.
I am 8 years out from my main chemo but I had more treatment after this (hit my community name to see my story) and even after all these years I am still up to the loo 2 or 3 times a night.
I still drink 2-3 litres of water a day. I was doing this everyday during my treatments to protect my kidneys and still do this as I am open to kidney infections.
It’s be a hard few years for everyone with cancer, especially blood cancer but you are here now so can talk to us.
You want to check out for a local Maggie's Centre as most centres run Online Heamatology Support Group - our one n Inverness is great.
Do also check out Lymphoma Action, a small but very active UK Lymphoma Specific Charity who have lots of good information, videos and run regular regional online Lymphoma Online Support Groups and indeed a very great Lymphoma Buddy Service where you can be linked up with someone who has walked the same treatment journey.
What exact type of NHL do you have?
Always around to chat.
I had huge pain in places where the lymphoma was. Medics don't seem to acknowledge that this happens but many report it.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
