Hi, I am in the midst of having tests ran on a lump in the groin area. I am a 44 year old woman who has always been active and very healthy. I have had a swollen lump that came on overnight in the groin area about a month ago. I had a swollen lymph node there years ago when I was sick and it went down within a few days. This is hard, kind of rubbery, no pain, and feels very fixed in place. I did have an ultrasound done two weeks ago and it came back negative. In fact, they didn't even detect a lump at all on the ultrasound which makes me believe that the tech was not quite on the lump when she did the ultrasound. Blood tests were all normal. I feel like I am getting sick all of the time but it never turns into anything so I have chalked it up to allergies. No fever and only had night sweats once about a month ago.
Here is the weird thing. I have noticed that the lump feels a little smaller in the morning and larger in the afternoon and evening. Would a lymph node do this? It never shrinks completely and I know for a fact that it was not there prior to a month ago because I shave there twice a week and that is how I found it. It is very obvious. I appreciate any feedback. I am gathering my images tomorrow and have a Drs appt on Thursday.
Kindly,
April
Hi and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear about the struggles you are having finding out what is going on, our bodies do make this living thing hard work at time.
Our Lymphatic system is a very completed part of the body and yes, Lymph-nodes do come and go as we fight infections.
On the whole an ultrasound would normally pick up raised nodes and if anything is found could trigger further Lymphoma Investigations where needed.
Identifying Lymphoma follows a very defined method and on the whole is the main way diagnosis can be found....... but for some folks, it does take a good period of time and some persistence to find the truth so do keep working with your GP to find the answers.
Always around to help as best as we can.
Hello,
Sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling too well lately.
When my lumps appeared they didn't go back down, but only grew bigger. I do wonder if there is a different health concern, lumps in the lymphatic system is not always cancer. My friend often had big lumps in her neck when she was not feeling welll.
Any cancerous lumps would have been seen on a ultrasound i would think.
I hope you will find out what it is soon. Wishing you all the best
