Hi everyone hope you're well, just wanted to give you all a up date on my journey, as you may know I had a stem cell transplant in September all went well and ,I was in hospital for a 6 week's stay started at Derriford for the treatment, then down to Truro for recovery and finally to Penzance.

I've now been out of hospital for 3 week's and,I'm finding it had to eat anything, plus I'm tired every day which is all part of the recovery I'm told, my main problem is eating I force myself to eat as I could quite easily go all day not eating, which I know is bad as my body need's help to recover after what it's been through.

I would like  some more advice from you good people on what's best for me to eat,as things need to change, all I'm eating at the moment is porridge for breakfast or a crumpet ,some samble eggs and microwave rice and the odd banana or apple.

I look forward too your advice and thank you in advance

  • Hi , first good to hear you are home and you had no dramas during treatment.

The eating thing I do get, that was me for three mo this post SCT number 2, but this was not helped dune to developing a massive Hiatus Hernia due to bing very badly sick after my final conditioning.

Our SCT Unit dietitian sat with us for an hour and talked things over. So yes to the scrambled egged and porridge for breakfast.

Then it was grazing on little cups/plates of good quality, blitzed homemade soups made with lots of vegetables and chicken - always with cream in it.

Little plates of mashed potatoes, again with cream and cheese. I could handle a small amount of minced beef.

We found a energy bar that I could hold down, just a little at a time, but are great for protons......... the problem is your stomach is having to re-educate it’s self again so it does take time.
